Transgender People

An estimated 2.8 million people ages 13 and older in the U.S. identify as transgender. Transgender people live in every state, are ethnically and racially diverse, and offer a range of skills, expertise, and experiences. In recent years, the collective work of movement organizations has resulted in greater visibility and advocacy for transgender people across the country. Unfortunately, due to increased anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, escalated violence, and legislation, executive orders, and other targeted actions, transgender people are experiencing an extraordinarily difficult political environment, leading to significant impacts on their everyday lives.

The following resources offer an overview into the lives of transgender people, maps and reports about the policy landscape and the impact on the health and wellbeing of transgender youth and adults.
